Довелось бывать на одном небольшом датском островке, практически в углу Европы. Остров от другого острова отделял небольшой пролив.
На берегу выстроен достаточно добротный каменный форт с кучей пушек. Как оказалось, не для обороны.
Местные рассказали, что таким образом брали дань с проплывавшие через пролив корабли, а тем, кто не платил - залп в борт.
Сейчас конечно, они все из себя такие респектабельные европейцы, а 1000-500 лет назад отморозки были.
